About Valenki

VALENKI HISTORY

The history of Russian valenki dates back to the 18th century when the first pair was produced. It is believed that the prototype of valenki were the felt boots of Asian nomads, which they had been wearing for more than 1,500 years. Mass production of valenki was started at the end of the 19th century. Early on, valenki had been too expensive, and only wealthy people could afford them.

TIPS FOR TAKING CARE OF YOUR VALENKI.

Valenki are made of 100% sheep wool. If you get them wet remember never to dry them near a stove or other heat source! The combination of water and heat may cause the wool to shrink. Let your boots dry at room temperature.

If you get some dirt or mud on your Valenki, let the stain dry first and then clean it off with a brush. Keep your Valenki looking fresh by cleaning the felt with a damp cloth once in a while.

When you come from outside, shake the snow off of Valenki!

Use any anti moth product to protect Valenki summer time.
